Is it true that just going to class in grad school will usually get you at least a C?

Someone I know who has several masters degrees once told me that when you're in grad school, you're pretty much guaranteed of getting at least a C in a class if you at least come to all the classes. Do you know if this is often true? Assume we're talking about a normal state school here, not a prestigious grad school.

Yes, just going to class will get you a C in grad school. BUT a C in grad school is unsatisfactory work and in most programs getting one will result in probation and two will result in dismissal.





Bottom line, a C is BAD -- a B might be BAD. When you're in grad school, the only acceptable grade is an A and nobody just gives those away.





One has to remember though, graduate school is a bit self-selecting. That is, there aren't usually stupid people in grad school - these students are already some of the brightest people around, that's why they are there. It's not unusual for the ability/knowledge of the students to exceed that of the professors in a good program.





For those posting that having "several master's degrees" is unusual -- actually, look around. The master's is the new bachelor's and more than a few folks out there are getting multiples. Many are also adding additional content area courses to their degrees. It's not all that uncommon and it's going to become more common.

Thats Hilarious.....any real grad school you are going to have to work you *** off. Anything less than an A is going to be frowned upon, and I promise if you got less than a C without VERY mitigating circumstances you would likely be dropped by your program.





And yes it is very possible I have seen it happen.

Reply:When I was in grad school if you were getting C's they asked you to leave the program. Doing the bare minimum will only set you up for a path out the door.
Reply:Of course not. You still have to do written work and presentations to earn a graduate degree from anywhere...one that actually MEANS something, anyway and isn't just a ceremonial thing.





Your friend sounds bogus to me...have you actually called the universities he claims to have degrees from to check if his claims are true?
