Does a 1971 chevy class c motorhome have a 4 bolt main engine?

Probably. GM put 4-bolt main engines in its heavy-duty trucks until recently. Light-duty pickups generally have 2-bolt mains, but "heavy 1/2" (1/2 ton w/towing package), 3/4 ton, 1-ton, and 2-ton pickups, trucks, and vans all have 4-bolt mains. You should be able to run the engine serial number through GM's computers at a GM parts department to know for sure. If you have any doubt, pull the oil pan and look for yourself.

Yes.
Reply:Yes depending on what the factroy put in it. Not all heavy duty chasies had four bolt main blocks in them. The majority did. But Chevy did put some two bolt block in heavy duty chases.
Reply:Yes it does
Reply:I just checked my book on gm blocks your chances of having a four bolt block are slim. from 69-72 there were only 4 different blocks made that are 4 bolt main.thre were 6 with 2 bolt. the block with casting number 3970010 is your best shot of a 4 bolt main.BUT they also made this block in a 2 bolt main.I am assuming it has a 350 also.
Reply:It seems like it was pretty spotty which type of engine was put in which vehicle. I've heard reports in magazines saying that the 4-bolt main engines aren't really any stronger than the 2-bolt main ones. I'd probably still try to use a 4-bolt if possible, but if it's only a 2-bolt, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Reply:YES

I bet it's a 350 or 400

Pushing about 220 hp

Look on the front of your engine where the code is below the head

If it has a T for the first letter

it is most likely a 4 bolt truck engine
Reply:Yes, it should have. All heavy truck chasis had heavy duty 4 bolt mains to withstand the torque put on them.
Reply:If it's an original 350 cid. , it does or should unless they put some in that wasn't. Most did.
