I'm buying a car. For 36,000, I have choice of a low model (c class) Mercedes or a loaded passat? Which one?

hi. im buying a loaded passat too, mocca in colour!!!

Im all for the passat over the low model c class.

Benz is a reliable car until maintenance is needed. Benz has needle bearings in the mains on the engine block -- makes the car real smooth at 100mph -- but those bearings eventually leak and it's ususally the front one. Happens at about 50,000 on the odometer. Then you're looking at $3-5k. On a Volks, I'd only go with the models made in the last 3 years. Volks has come a long ways recently.
Reply:the passat is a better more reliable car.
Reply:For 36K...

Are these the only two cars that you are interested in?

For 36K, you could get a number of cars. I would suggest that you make a list of the attributes that you need and do a full comparison across the class that you desire.

If these are the two choices that you have narrowed it down to

I would suggest the fully loaded Passat.

It will bring you more when you wish to sell or trade.
Reply:Although the Mercedes is a better car, the Passat is the better value.
