Im looking to buy a mercedes c class...maybe c230 kompressor, 2003 or newer...whats too much mileage for this?

Don't gauge by mileage. Get the newest car you can find with all service records. Get the car inspected at a dealer (pre-purchase inspection), and have the dealer pull all service records.

Most of all, don't buy one without a Starmark warranty.

Miles are a factor generally to look at when buying a car since engine wear increases with miles. However, MB engines are bulletproof -- they will run forever. Plus, 50,000 highway miles on a wear cared for car is a much better option than 25,000 miles on car driven hard in the city and stop and go driving.

The issue you will have with a C230 (and trust me -- you will have them), will primarily be electronic in nature. MB squeezed their suppliers a few years ago and quality of trim pieces and electronics literally went down the toilet. If you want proof of this don't take the testimony of individualpeople on this board since individual results will vary -- check consumer reports and JD Power for C class cars from 2003 and 2004. Not good.

The wisest thing you can do is find a car that hasn't had a history of being in the shop.

It all depends on the price. I would personally pay a premium for low miliege, but I would def. buy one w/ high miliege for the right price
Reply:I think you'll need to go to a library rather than searching on line for the answer. An on-line service like kelley blue book (www.kbb.com) or NADA (www.nadaguides.com) will ask you to insert the mileage, and then the site will give you the value (trade-in, private purchase, dealer px). But you're looking for mileage ranges. The hard-copy guide (NADA or Kelley will be available in the reference section of your public library) will give you prices (retail, trade-in, etc) and a section up front will tell you what mileage to expect for a given yr and what to add or deduct for less or more mileage on the car. Obviously, that tells you the range expected for a given yr. Best of luck!
Reply:this is the sports class the c230 has a awsome interior, great look, runs smooth and buitl great, but its not good on the mpg and also lacks on hp. i recommed u try the AMG its way better.
Reply:15 to 20 thousand a mile for year is good, more than that is 2 many miles.
