Have you tried putting in an MP3 CD? If it doesn't work, check the CD, and if you know that it works in your sisters car, then you may need a reprogramming from the dealer.

best thing to do is to get a cd changer. the factory deck has other sensors and things tied in to it that would be affected by its removal. also there is the issue of the overall cosmetic look of the dash.
