Anyone own a mercedes C class? I am considering buying one...?
i own a c320 its reall fast and economical. 215hp!
Reply:It's not a "performance" car if you compare it to a Ferrari, but we are talking about normal cars, not half a million dollar "rocket ships."

You never mentioned which model of a C-class you are considering, but in general they are fine. You'll like it.

Of course, you'll get some answers from "specialists," who NEVER drove a Mercedes, but they read about it on some web sites and they think that a web site or a Consumer Report is like a Bible. They'll tell you that Mercedes is the worst car in the World.

I suggest reading what OWNERS of a car you want have to say. Go to benzworld.org forum and read what people, who actually own this car say.
Reply:wait for a couple days then go to your nearest benz dealer and ask about the 2008 C class coming out late this summer.

Trust me its worth the wait.
Reply:dont do it
Reply:You getting a new or used?

The C320's have the better engine for a used. They are offering specials on the '07 sports because the model year is changing for '08 (significant redesign, looks like the clk)

If you are considering used, you may as well get an E class, you'll find its a better bargain used than the C.
Reply:hahaha get me one to.
Reply:If you want a performance car, the BMW 3-series is a better performance car. The C Class is an entry-level luxury car. The North American-market C Class is imported from Brazil.

Don't get first-year models, as stated by someone else already. Like she said, expect high costs for maintenance, repairs outside warranty, insurance, gas, etc. The costs will shock first-time owners of European cars.
Reply:Yeah I've got a C180 Kompressor Sport Coupe. Had it for a year from new. Nice car, comfortable, smart inside, drives well and goes when you put your foot down. Not very economical but I didn't expect it to be!
Reply:Funny how these "new" engines from MBZ don't put out as much as my 1992 300CE...

3.0L Inline-6, 7000RPM, 220HP, and a true 150MPH Panzer Tank.

I personally think the V-6's are lame engines.
Reply:if u want one for performance i would suggest at least a C320 or maybe if u have some money to spend a C32 AMG/C55 AMG. oh yea, HappyNow a 300 CE will not do 155mph.
Reply:I have a C320 and love the performance. It is an automatic but you can switch to a manual type shifting gear to give it some pep. But I usually don't need it - it has a lot of power for a less expensive model. I only have issues with wiring, I was told not to buy the first year model when a new one comes out. Mine was the new model for 2001 - but luckily everything is covered by the warranty. But overall Mercedes are expensive to fix, just a low idol is $400. Every computer part is at least $500. So just know going in to the purchase that they are not cheap to fix if something does go wrong.... but I do like my car a lot!
Reply:You can always try a C36 AMG or C43 AMG or C32 AMG or C55 AMG, all of which are quick. For a real rare one, look out for a C30 AMG Diesel!

For everyday driving the C320CDi is without doubt the one to go for , economy and performance.

I drive an AMG and nothing comes close in performance on the road.

The C180/200/230 Kompressors are quick enough (all are 1.8l but varying bhp), but not as smooth as the V6/8's.

Early Kompressors were noisy too, go for the later ones.
Reply:Brilliant car. I drive them at the auctions
Reply:I have a C230. It's a very nice car, but not incredibly fast. It's faster than 90% of cars on the road, but if you wan't a rocketship this isn't really the car. If you are already moving and want to go FASTER, this car is awesome. The response from 40mph to 100mph is amazing. However, the response from 0-60 might be *slightly* disappointing if you're into showing up other cars.
Reply:I have an 04 C230. It is the 4 cyl supercharged, and it is surprisingly quick, but I wouldn't buy it again. We also have a BMW 3 series and it is WAY nicer. They don't even feel like they are in the same league. Seriously Mercedes are nice, but you just pay for the name. You should really look into the Bimmers.
